AFRICAN PEPSI FOOTBALL CLUB

Pepsi is releasing its Africa-and-football themed music track globally on Sunday (31 January 2010) as part of its plans to "hijack the 2010 Fifa World Cup, sponsored by rival Coca-Cola" - that's their own words, not mine. lol!

The charity song, 'Oh Africa', performed by Akon, Keri Hilson and the Soweto Gospel Choir, with proceeds (from the sale of the track) going towards charities, including Akon's Konfidence Foundation, helping underprivileged African youths.

The music video features cameo appearances from Pepsi brand ambassadors Didier Drogba and Fernando Torres.

Last night, on the eve of World AIDS Day, Nike announced a new campaign in collaboration with the (RED) charity to help the fight against AIDS and HIV in Africa.

Nike will sell special red laces under the banner ‘Lace Up. Save Lives’ [rubbish name, good cause... so I can't fault you]

Footballer Didier Drogba and rock star Bono launched the initiative in London.

Football stars Joe Cole, Lucas Neill, Marco Materazzi, Andrei Arshavin, Clint Dempsey, Seol Ki-Hyeon and Denilson joined Drogba to debut red laces that they all will wear on the field to show their support for (NIKE)RED.
